# **Aamir Khan Opens Up About His Struggles in Bollywood and Upcoming Projects**

Aamir Khan recently shared insights into his journey in the film industry, revealing how he was initially labeled as a “one-film wonder” and how it took him years to remove that tag. During a press conference for the special film festival organized on his birthday (from March 14 to March 27), Aamir discussed his career struggles and the lessons he learned along the way.

## **Early Struggles and Label of “One-Film Wonder”**

Aamir Khan’s debut movie, *Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak*, was a box-office success and brought him immense fame. After that, he received offers for around 300-400 films. During that period, many actors were working on multiple projects simultaneously, and Aamir followed the trend by signing 9-10 films. However, once filming began, he realized his mistake. Constant traveling and hectic schedules left him drained, preventing him from giving his best.

Despite having numerous films in his hands, he wasn’t happy. Unfortunately, many of these films, including *Awwal Number*, *Love Love Love*, and *Tum Mere Ho*, failed at the box office. He was deeply affected by these failures and would often sit at home, feeling helpless. Some even began calling him a “one-film wonder.”

## **Turning Point in Aamir Khan’s Career**

Aamir admitted that there was a time when he feared he might have to go back to working as an assistant director. The continuous failures of his films led to a decline in offers. He recalled, “After the flops of *Awwal Number*, *Love Love Love*, and *Tum Mere Ho*, I feared my upcoming six films would also fail. It felt like I had fallen into a deep pit from which escape was impossible.”

However, his career took a positive turn with *Dil*, which was a major success and revived his position in Bollywood.

## **Rejections from Big Directors**

Even after *Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak* became a blockbuster, the top directors he aspired to work with didn’t offer him roles. He mentioned that he had always wanted to work with Subhash Ghai, but he never got an offer from him.

During the conversation, lyricist Javed Akhtar humorously asked Aamir if he ever thanked Subhash Ghai for not offering him a role. Aamir responded by saying that rejecting films that didn’t align with his vision played a crucial role in shaping his success. Even during his lowest phase, he stood firm on his decisions and only accepted projects he truly believed in.

## **Lessons Learned and Career Strategy**

Aamir explained that saying “no” to certain films was just as important as saying “yes” to the right ones. He emphasized that making the right choices at the right time defined his career. Had he compromised, his entire career would have been a series of compromises. Risk-taking was essential, but he learned how to take calculated risks.

## **Aamir Khan’s Upcoming Movies**

Aamir Khan is gearing up for his next film *Sitaare Zameen Par*, which is directed by R.S. Prasanna. This movie is an official remake of the Spanish film *Campeones*.

Apart from acting, Aamir has also been actively producing films. His production house backed *Laapataa Ladies*, which was India’s official entry to the Oscars, though it didn’t progress further. However, the film recently won multiple awards at the IIFA ceremony.

Another exciting project under Aamir’s production is *Lahore 1947*. This film stars Sunny Deol, along with Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, and Ali Fazal. Directed by *Andaaz Apna Apna* fame Rajkumar Santoshi, this film is already creating buzz in the industry.

During the press event, Javed Akhtar confidently stated that *Lahore 1947* would be a hit and would be appreciated by both multiplex and single-screen audiences. Javed Akhtar has also written the songs for this film.

Aamir Khan’s journey is a true testament to perseverance and making the right career decisions. Having overcome setbacks, he remains one of the most celebrated actors and producers of Indian cinema. Fans are eagerly anticipating his upcoming movies, hoping for yet another masterpiece from Bollywood’s *Mr. Perfectionist*.
