During a conversation with *Pinkvilla*, Vikram recalled how his mother wanted him to complete his graduation, while his father wasn’t overly concerned about it. Having been involved in filmmaking from a young age, he already knew where his passion lay. However, academics were never his strong suit.
“I was never a great student, just an average one,” Vikram admitted. “I remember joining my Economics class a month late. That was the most confusing 45 minutes of my life. I couldn’t understand a thing! The graphs were going up and down, and it felt like watching a Chinese film without subtitles.”
Realizing that economics wasn’t for him, Vikram returned home and told his father that he wanted to go to film school. However, his father dismissed the idea, believing Vikram was simply making excuses to avoid studying. His mother was heartbroken and even shed tears over the decision. Eventually, a compromise was reached, and he decided to pursue his education through correspondence while continuing his film career.

“Bobby and I have been great friends since college. Even today, he scolds me for something I advised him back then,” Vikram recalled with a laugh.
During their college years, Bobby was unsure about which subject to choose. Vikram confidently suggested, *“Take Computer Science, it has a great future!”* Trusting his friend’s advice, Bobby opted for Computer Science – only to later struggle and ultimately fail in the subject.
“To this day, Bobby blames me for it,” Vikram joked. “He still says, ‘It’s all because of you!’”

Despite the academic mishap, Bobby Deol and Vikram Bhatt’s friendship remained strong. Years later, they worked together on the 2005 film *Jurm*, starring Lara Dutta, Gul Panag, and Milind Soman.
