# Dino Morea Claims *Raaz* Was More Profitable Than *Devdas*
Dino Morea has acted in numerous films throughout his career, but he is best known for *Raaz*, directed by Vikram Bhatt. The 2002 horror-thriller featured Bipasha Basu and became a massive hit, with its music still widely loved today. The same year, Bollywood also witnessed the release of *Devdas*, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Madhuri Dixit. While *Devdas* is considered one of the most iconic Bollywood films, Dino Morea recently claimed that *Raaz* was far more profitable.
## *Raaz* vs. *Devdas*: Box Office Comparison
During a conversation, Dino Morea pointed out that while *Devdas* was a big-budget film, *Raaz* was made on a much smaller scale but yielded significantly higher profits. According to him, *Raaz* was technically a much bigger success in terms of return on investment.
He stated,
*”When *Raaz* became a blockbuster, *Devdas* was also released at the same time. But when you compare the figures, our film had a much smaller budget, yet we earned significant profits. On the other hand, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s *Devdas* had a massive budget, and while it performed well, the profit margin was very different. *Raaz* was far more profitable compared to *Devdas*.”*
## Lack of Awards Recognition for *Raaz* Music
Dino Morea also expressed disappointment over the fact that *Raaz* did not receive awards for its music, despite the songs becoming widely popular. Even today, tracks like *Aapke Pyaar Mein*, *Jo Bhi Kasmein*, and *Kitna Pyaara Hai Ye Chehra* remain fan favorites. He mentioned,
*”Despite the success of *Raaz*, the film only won two awards. However, none of our songs were recognized in award ceremonies. That year, *Devdas* won almost all the awards, which was a bit disheartening, but it’s a learning experience.”*
## Future Plans for *Raaz* Sequel?
Dino Morea revealed that he had discussed a potential sequel to *Raaz* with Vikram Bhatt. He proposed that a new film should pick up right where the original ended, following the journey of his and Bipasha Basu’s characters to explore what happens next. He added,
*”I even have a story idea in mind. If we get permission to work on it, I know exactly where to begin and how to connect it to the modern audience. I would love to be part of this project.”*
## Budget and Earnings Comparison
When looking at the box-office numbers, *Raaz* was made on a budget of approximately ₹5 crore and went on to earn around ₹37 crore, making nearly **six times** its budget. Meanwhile, *Devdas* had a massive ₹50 crore budget and earned around ₹100 crore, making just **twice** its investment. This clearly shows that while *Devdas* was a grand spectacle, *Raaz* was a far more financially successful venture in terms of profitability.
## Dino Morea’s Upcoming Projects
On the work front, Dino Morea is set to appear in Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer film *Housefull 5*. Fans eagerly await to see him back on the big screen.
