Krrish 4 faces budget challenges and directorial changes

Hrithik Roshan’s much-awaited film Krrish 4 has been making headlines for a long time. It is one of the most anticipated films in Indian cinema. Director Rakesh Roshan and his team have been working on this project for several years. At one point, it was reported that the film’s shooting would commence soon. However, a new challenge has emerged, putting the project at risk.

Budget Constraints Stall Krrish 4

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the budget for Krrish 4 has escalated to such an extent that no studio is willing to invest in it. Back in January, Rakesh Roshan himself addressed this issue and shared his concerns about the rising budget.

Speaking with Movie Talkies, Rakesh Roshan mentioned that while the film was about to go on the floors, budget-related concerns kept delaying it. He emphasized that the film is a big-budget project intended to be made on a grand scale. However, if they try to cut costs, it will compromise the storyline, which he does not want to do. He aims to make the film at a realistic budget while maintaining its grandeur.

No Studio Willing to Take the Risk

The latest Bollywood Hungama report suggests that Krrish 4 requires a budget of approximately ₹500 crores. Given the significant financial risk, no studio is ready to back the film.

As per the report, Siddharth Anand, a close friend of Hrithik Roshan and a well-known director, was set to produce the film. Hrithik had entrusted him with the responsibility of finding a studio for financing the film. However, major production companies are hesitant due to the uncertainty surrounding Krrish 4’s box office reception.

The last Krrish film was released over a decade ago, making investors skeptical about whether the audience will still be interested in the franchise.

Siddharth Anand and Marflix Exit Krrish 4

According to industry insiders, Siddharth Anand and his company Marflix Films have exited the project. Reportedly, Hrithik Roshan and Rakesh Roshan recently held a meeting to brainstorm alternate solutions. Their plan now is to approach different Indian studios and finalize a deal to bring Krrish 4 to life.

Going forward, Krrish 4 will be produced in collaboration with a major studio through Film Kraft Productions, Rakesh Roshan’s home banner. With Marflix stepping aside, Siddharth Anand will now focus on other projects, rather than Krrish 4.

Karan Malhotra to Exit as Director?

Another setback for Krrish 4 is the expected exit of Karan Malhotra, who was initially signed on to direct the film. Since Siddharth Anand has distanced himself from the project, Karan Malhotra is also expected to leave. This means that a new director will have to come on board to lead the project.

New Team, Budget Revamp & Delayed Shooting

With the budget issues and change of team, a fresh approach will be required to re-evaluate the finances and structure the project accordingly. As a result, the shooting of Krrish 4, which was initially planned for late 2025, is now expected to be pushed to 2026.

There is also speculation that if Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming film War 2 turns out to be a massive success, it could boost investor confidence in Krrish 4. A blockbuster success of War 2 could assure studios that Hrithik can carry forward a big-budget project like Krrish 4.

Final Thoughts

Given the budgetary concerns, production challenges, and team restructuring, the delay in Krrish 4 appears inevitable. Fans of the franchise are eagerly waiting for updates. However, until a studio greenlights the project, the future of Krrish 4 remains uncertain.
