Prashanth Varma, known for his film Hanuman, has been gaining attention for his unique approach to mythology in cinema. His innovative storytelling blends mythological elements with modern cinematic techniques. Now, he is set to embark on another ambitious project, teaming up with superstar Prabhas for a larger-than-life action film. However, this time the inspiration comes not from Ramayana, but from Mahabharata.
Prabhas to Portray a Character Inspired by Bakasura
According to reports, the upcoming film will be a high-budget venture with heavy use of visual effects. Prabhas is set to play a character inspired by Bakasura, a notorious demon from Mahabharata. In mythology, Bakasura was a ferocious, man-eating demon who lived in Ekachakra Nagari. The people of the kingdom feared him deeply. Eventually, Bhima, one of the Pandavas, killed Bakasura during their exile.
Prashanth Varma is reportedly working on developing a film that delves into Bakasura’s journey. The working title of the project is “Baka”, and initial reports suggest that renowned production houses like Mythri Movie Makers and Homebale Films might back the project.
Not a Period Drama, but a Modern Interpretation
Unlike traditional period dramas set in mythological timelines, Prashanth Varma plans to modernize Bakasura’s story with a unique twist. The film will present Prabhas in a grey-shaded role, marking a fresh perspective on such characters. Sources indicate that the script is still being refined, with an official announcement expected as early as April.
Interestingly, this film was initially offered to Ranveer Singh, but he reportedly declined. Eventually, the role was offered to Prabhas, who readily agreed. Furthermore, Prabhas has already undergone a look test for the film in Hyderabad. An announcement teaser has also been shot and will be released soon.
Who Will Play the Female Lead?
Speculation is also rife about the female lead in the film. Reports suggest that Bhagyashree Borse, known for her role in Mister Bachchan alongside Ravi Teja, might be cast opposite Prabhas. However, her role in Baka remains undisclosed.
Expectations from Prashanth Varma’s Vision
With Hanuman, Prashanth Varma gained recognition for his distinct storytelling style. Fans are excited to see how he executes Baka, blending mythology with contemporary action themes. Meanwhile, Prabhas has been a part of multiple high-octane action movies, portraying larger-than-life characters. It will be intriguing to see how Prashanth presents him in this new avatar.
Prabhas’ Busy Schedule
Apart from Baka, Prabhas has several big projects lined up. His upcoming films include:
- The Raja Saab
- Fouji
- Spirit
- Kalki 2898 AD (Sequel in Development)
With Prashanth Varma and Prabhas coming together, Baka is set to be an exciting cinematic spectacle. Fans are now eagerly waiting for the official announcement and first look of the movie.
